KARACHI: KESC campagin for schools

Published March 15, 2007

KARACHI, March 14: Karachi Electricity Supply Corporation has planned a campaign to spread awareness among schoolchildren about the use and conservation of energy in homes.

The power utility, which had been faced with a severe power crisis previous year, has decided to create awareness among children to save power. The KESC would plan presentations to children studying in private and public schools.

KESC officials said even in developed countries such awareness was introduced at school level for children to develop civic and social consciousness. They said the KESC’s project would be of interest for school kids of five to 12 years age group. The schoolchildren would be told about energy, its forms, electricity, its discoverer, and simple ways to save electricity.

Besides, the KESC also plans to create awareness among the masses about power saving. Electrical appliances consumed power while they were on stand by. The KESC asked people to switch off their electrical appliances such as computers instead of putting them on stand by.
