NAWABSHAH, Feb 19: The district government would hold its third annual flower show and arts and science exhibition on March 7-11 and award prizes for the most beautifully prepared stalls, said District Nazim Faryal Talpur while presiding over a meeting at Darbar Hall on Monday.

She said that the district had earmarked Rs1 million for the event and planned to organise the flower show and exhibition on a larger scale by inviting government, semi-government, autonomous bodies and representatives of private sector besides nurseries and flower growers. Home gardening had also been included in the competition, she added.

She said that the competition would be divided into different categories and each category would get three prizes. A special prize would also be awarded for the best stall in public sector.

District Naib Nazim Abdul Haq Jamali, EDO Agriculture Dr Karim Bux Leghari, EDO Forest Tariq Irfan, district government officials and representatives of nurseries attended the meeting.

SIX BOOKED: Police on Monday booked six people on charges of kidnapping a girl from her house on the Hussaini Road.

The girl’s father Mohammad Sharif Mughal alleged in an FIR that Jan Mohammad Manganhar, Nooro, Siddique, Ghulam Nabi, Nawab Gul and Taju had kidnapped Ms Farzana alias Sajju, 18. No arrest was made till the filing of this report.

EYE CAMP: More than 1200 patients were examined and 141 cataract surgeries were conducted free of charge at a three-day eye camp organised by Rotary Club in collaboration with Indus Rangers at Jam Saheb, which concluded on Monday.
