KARACHI, Jan 22: Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmany of the Sindh High Court on Monday disposed of as infructuous a petition by PPP leader Asif Ali Zardari for transfer of Mir Murtaza Bhutto murder case from the court of District and Sessions Judge (East) Zafar Ahmed Khan Sherwani.

The district judge, who was alleged to be biased by the petitioner, has meanwhile been transferred in the recent reshuffle of judicial officers and the case would now be tried by Judge Agha Rafiq Ahmed Khan.

Justice Khilji Arif Hussain, meanwhile, upheld the Karachi University’s ownership of 75 acres of land situated on the Abul Hasan Ispahani Road within the boundary walls of Bhayani Heights.

The court observed that the counter-claim by the plaintiffs was not borne out by the revenue record.
