KARACHI, Dec 15: Sindh Health Minister Syed Sardar Ahmed on Friday paid second visit to Services Hospital in two weeks and inspected different departments to get fresh account of their functioning.

Sources said Mr Ahmed’s second visit to the hospital might be a result of media reports about repercussions of implementation on his earlier order regarding vacation of quarters for establishment of a huge trauma centre.

The minister had asked various officials of the hospital, HIV lab, National Drug Testing Authority and over 40 families living in the quarters to vacate premises so that trauma centre could be established.

Reports had raised questions about security risk involved in shifting of thousands of samples if chemical examiner’s office was relocated.

The minister had earlier asked all the establishments to start packing before December 15 but during his Friday’s visit he gave no deadline but showed his interest to build a vast emergency centre for the Civil Hospital without dismantling the Services Hospital, according to sources.
