KARACHI: Unikarians’ award ceremony

KARACHI, Dec 7: The Unikarians, a body of the University of Karachi alumni of distinction, will hold its “Nishan-i-Fazeelat Award” ceremony at Shaikh Zayed Auditorium, University Road, on December 9.

According to a communication, Nishan-i-Fazeelat is given to members of the association in recognition of their outstanding performance in their respective field.

Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, Dr A. Q. Khan and Dr Liaquat Hussain of NASA are among the 20 recipients of the award for this year, it said, adding that the award for Dr Khan will be received by his sister.

Azhar Hashmi, an executive committee member of the Unikarians, said that the prime minister will not come to the ceremony to receive the award. “We have received a message from the PM’s House only this evening that Sindh governor would represent the prime minister at the ceremony and receive the award on his behalf, he stated.
