KARACHI: Cardiac conference from 14th

KARACHI, Dec 6: About 450 delegates, including 48 foreign experts, are likely to attend the 6th Biennial International Conference on cardiac, thoracic and vascular surgeries, commencing here on December 14.

Giving details of the conference, Prof Arifur Rehman Khan, Chairman of the organising committee of the conference, said that National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases would host the biennial event of the Pakistan Society of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeons, which had now 350 surgeons as its members.

Besides presentation of research works, special lectures, demonstrations and public awareness programmes on heart diseases and hypertension would be among the features.

Dr Khan said that about 48 cardiac surgeons and experts in heart diseases from UK, USA, Libya, Jordan, Turkey, France, Egypt, Iran, India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Kyrgyzstan, Italy and Germany were expected to participate in the conference.

He said that the objectives of the conference were to bring to the fore the latest developments and advances in the fields of cardiac, thoracic and vascular surgery and to discuss new and emerging techniques, sharing-related knowledge and experiences.

Dr Fazal Rabbi, Dr Tariq Azam Siddiqui and Prof Akhtar Husssain were also present at the briefing.
