MULTAN, Dec 3: City district nazim Mian Faisal Mukhtar said on Sunday land had been acquired at a cost of Rs 53.5 million for the Rs500 million new district headquarters hospital at Hassan Sawali Chowk here.

He said this while addressing a ceremony to inaugurate a Rs25 million road from Hassan Sawali Chowk to Basti Pahooraan via Bahawalpur Sukha and other schemes. He said Rs100 million had been allocated for the Safari Park and zoo project in Multan and added that Rs60 million out of this amount would be spent on land purchase.

The nazim saw better days ahead for people of the area as the Rs15 billion project of engineering university had been approved to be built in the vicinity of UC-49, with investors in the housing sector also eyeing the area. Price of land would increase here manifold, he forecast.

He said 124 acres had been transferred to the HEC to build the engineering university and added that the Netherlands government would extend cooperation in the project.—APP
