NAWABSHAH, Feb 15: The people of Nawabshah town are facing a lot of difficulties due to non-availability of drinking water.

People from different localities told this correspondent that since last 10 days, there was scarcity of water and they were passing life like in hell.

They said that even when there was water in lines, it was very polluted and full of stink and can not be used for drinking.

They said that the taluka administration has failed to provide them hygienic water.

They further said that at some places water gets mixed up with sewerage water and due to this, risk of spread of water-borne diseases had increased.

The physicians have opined that risk of Hepatitis-A, jaundice and gastro increases due to polluted water. They said that these diseases can be controlled easily, if pure drinking water is used.

They complained that during last 6 months of the district government, it has failed to provide pure and hygienic drinking water to citizens and the drainage work has also not been completed.

Gharibabad, Manuabad, Society, Azeem Colony, Taj Colony, Mehran Colony, Qazi Ahmed Turn, Mohni Bazaar, Linepar and Bhangwan Colony are among the worst hit areas of the city.

RALLY: Nearly 150 Shar tribesmen on Friday took out a protest rally against the police for the killing one person of their tribe in a police encounter a few day ago.

The rally, led by Preetamabad Union Council Nazim Mohammad Ali Shar and Naib Nazim Jam Saheb Abdullah Shar, started from the Shahpur Chakar chowk and terminated at the local press club.

They claimed that Azizullah Shar, who was killed in an encounter with the police on Feb 3, was innocent. No case was ever registered against him at any police station, they added.

They demanded of the government to conduct an inquiry by army officials.

Ali Mohammad Shar, brother of the deceased, warned of immolating himself if justice was not provided till Feb 20.

FIRE: Fire erupted in the bushes, spreading over an area of 4 acres, near the Quaid-i-Azam University of Science and Technology, here on Friday afternoon.

The fire was controlled with the support of fire brigade, local police and army men within an hour.
