HYDERABAD, Oct 22: The central jail and Nara jail set free 22 prisoners and reduced jail terms of 49 others on the eve of Eidul Fitr, following the announcement of remission in sentence by the president of Pakistan.

The central jail released 20 prisoners and the Nara jail two. Likewise, 45 prisoners in central jail and four in Nara prison had their terms remitted.

The president had announced a remission of 45 days for the prisoners. Those who had completed their term inclusive of 45 days were released while the others received a reduction by 45 days.

ACCIDENTS: A man was killed and eight others suffered injuries in road accidents over the last 24 hours.

Reports reaching here said that Sheroz Khan, 22, was killed after a coaster coach collided head-on with a car near Loonikot on Super Highway late Saturday night.

Late Khan belonged to Azad Kashmir. Nisar Ahmed sustained injuries.

Baloch Khan, Faheem and Imran sustained serious wounds after a truck ran into a Suzuki carry near Hala Naka. The injured were moved to civil hospital.

Abdul Wahid and Allah Bux suffered injuries in an accident in Tando Muhammad Khan. They were admitted to civil hospital.

Anwar Ali and Mohammad Amin suffered wounds after their motorcycle collided with an excise police mobile on National Highway. They were admitted to Liaquat University Hospital, Jamshoro.
