LARKANA, Sept 29: Two people suffering from gastroenteritis died on Friday and about ten others suffering stomach disorder were admitted to the Badah rural health centre.

The deceased were identified as Maulana Mazhar Brohi and Hidayatullah Brohi of Dargah Sharif area of the town.

Gastroenteritis inflicted patients Shams Khatoon Brohi, Sheeman, Qubra, Ali Mardan Brohi, Waheeda, Bahawal Khan, Ranjhan Mirbahar, Ghulam Qadir Brohi, Jan Muhammed and Parvez Ali are getting treatment at the rural health centre.

Sources said that the affected people had used highly contaminated water.

The entire population of the area normally uses the same water.

PRINCIPAL THRASHED: A former student leader thrashed Prof Anwar Korijo, principal of the Government Degree College Ratodero, and put his office on fire on Friday.

After the theory paper of BSc-I geography was over, Ammanullah Junejo, a former president of the Jamait Tulba-i-Islam, sat on a bench outside the principal’s office.

As soon the teachers came out, the student rushed into the office and without wasting time sprinkled petrol on the principal and the office.

But before he (student) could put the office on torch, the principal managed to come out of office. After torching the office, the student leader escaped from the place. The furniture of office and principal’s record was gutted in the fire.

A few days ago the alleged arsonist had come to the principal with some examination farms and pressed him to accept them without fee.

The principal had turned down the deal.

Perhaps it irked the student who had chosen this way to threat him, the principal said.

The matter was reported to police and officials of the education department.

The teaching faculty did not boycott the paper-II in the evening only to save the precious year of students. However, teachers decided to protest on Saturday and register FIR.
