SANGHAR, Aug 27: Police baton-charged candidates appearing for test and interviews for the post of constables on Sunday. Thousands of aspirants alleged that they fulfilled the criteria set for the vacancies, but only those had been allowed for interviews and test who had connections.

The complainants said they had reached the interview centre set up at the Sanghar police lines at 6am, but they had been kept waiting. While some candidates arriving after them had been allowed out of turn because they had been accompanied by police officials.

The protesting candidates blocked the Sanghar-Shahdadpur road and burnt old tyres. The police used batons to disperse them.

Many candidates returned without appearing in the test and interviews.
