SIALKOT, Aug 16: Kenyan High Commissioner in Pakistan Mrs Mishi Masika Mwatsahu on Wednesday spent a busy day on the second day of her five-day visit to the city on Wednesday.

She also visited various leading industrial units in Sambrial, Uggoki and Sialkot besides holding meetings with main trade bodies in Sialkot. She discussed in details the matters of mutual interest with the business community.

Speaking at a meeting with the Sialkot-based leather gloves manufacturers and exporters at Pakistan Gloves Manufacturers & Exporters Association (PGMEA), Mrs Mwatsahu said the Kenyan government was making efforts to further develop mutual trade ties between the two countries.

She said that leather gloves manufacturers and exporters should capture the Kenyan market by exporting traditional and non-traditional export products.

PGMEA’s acting chairman Muhammad Younas briefed in detail the Kenyan high commissioner about the local gloves industry.

Later, addressing a largely attended meeting of surgical instruments manufacturers and exporters at the surgical instruments manufacturers association (SIMA), the Kenyan HC said that various companies had shown keen interest in joint ventures with Sialkot-based surgical companies.

She said that Kenya could become a big market of the Sialkot made surgical instruments, but the local surgical exporters had no direct access to the Kenyan market.

The Kenyan high commissioner stressed upon the need of developing approach to the Kenyan international trade markets.

She said that the regular exchange of a two-way trade delegations and advanced trade information could help improve mutual trade relations between Kenya and Pakistan.
