KARACHI: A fire broke out in huts on a plot in Gulshan-i-Iqbal on Thursday, gutting 10 of them, a rickshaw and a motorcycle, officials said.

No casualty was reported in the incident.

Rescue-1122 spokesperson Hassaan Ul Haseeb Khan said the incident took place near Aqsa Masjid in Block-13-C.

He said those living in the huts had allegedly taken illegal electricity connections through kundas and it appeared that a short circuit triggered the fire, which spread rapidly.

He said firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze after hectic efforts.
