KARACHI: Governor Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi launched the Khidmat-i-Sindh app on Thursday to facilitate the registration and effective resolution of public complaints.

Addressing the ceremony at the Governor House, Mr Hashmi said all relevant departments had worked together to develop the app.

“A total of 65 federal and provincial government departments and institutions have been connected to the platform,” he added.

Through the app, citizens will be able to submit complaints and requests for information directly to the relevant departments using their mobile phones.

The governor said the purpose of the initiative was not to undermine anyone, but to serve the public, resolve their problems promptly and ensure that the performance of government institutions was accountable to citizens.

He said that ordinary citizens often complained that their legitimate matters remained unresolved and that they faced various difficulties in getting their problems addressed.

“The Khidmat-i-Sindh App has been introduced in response to this public need, ensuring that citizens’ complaints reach the relevant departments directly and that their resolution is pursued effectively,” he added.

The governor said that the app would serve as an effective communication channel between the public and government institutions, enabling citizens to register complaints conveniently and track the progress made in resolving them.

He said that collective efforts were essential for the development of the province and the prosperity of its people, stressing that everyone must fulfil their responsibilities to turn the dreams of the Quaid-i-Azam into reality.

“No one will come from outside to ensure our progress and prosperity; we must work together ourselves,” he emphasised.

Earlier, Principal Secretary to the governor Dr Saif-ur-Rehman briefed the participants on the app’s features and how to use it.

He explained that citizens could register complaints of any nature through the app.

The principal secretary said the Khidmat-i-Sindh App could be downloaded from the Google Play Store, allowing citizens to submit their complaints easily.

He further said that once a complaint was received, the relevant department would be responsible for addressing it.

“The app allows citizens to report crimes, sanitation issues and other public concerns affecting everyday life”, he said, adding that users would also be able to view the status of their registered complaints and monitor progress online.

The launch ceremony was attended, among others, by the director general of the National Database and Registration Authority, Sindh and the additional inspector general of police, Karachi.
