PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi on Monday called for linking public services with a transparent, efficient and modern digital system to promote business activities and improve service delivery across the province.

“Facilitating the business community should remain a key government priority. There is a need to promote business activities in the province through a transparent, efficient and digital governance system,” he told a meeting at Governor House, according to an official statement issued here.

The meeting was called to discuss the ease-of-doing business and proposed reforms in relevant laws and regulations.

The meeting was attended by the governor’s adviser for finance, Tariq Mahmood Pasha, adviser for industries Irshad Ahmad, adviser for planning and development Usman Saifullah Khan, chief secretary Dr Fakhare Alam Irfan, industries secretary and other senior officials.

Mr Kundi said that unnecessary bureaucratic hurdles should be eliminated through introduction of modern digital systems, enabling entrepreneurs to access government services without making repeated visits to public offices.

Participants briefed the governor on measures aimed at facilitating businesses, issuance of no-objection certificates, implementation of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Asaan Karobar Act, 2025, the Asaan Karobar Live Portal, digitisation of regulatory licensing and certification offices, and steps taken to address the challenges.

The meeting was also informed about reform proposals prepared in consultation with 19 government departments.

The governor ordered authorities to introduce a one-window system to provide all business-related services under one roof and further simplify the online registration process to encourage investment and improve public convenience.

He said that an effective mechanism should be developed to ensure that citizens were not required to visit government offices for routine matters.

Mr Kundi instructed the authorities to activate, at the earliest, the online complaints portal for Asaan Karobar to ensure prompt resolution of issues faced by the business community and ordered appointment of a focal person for effective coordination with the federal government.

The governor called for an immediate meeting with the information technology department to expedite implementation of digital reforms while at the same time issuing directions that the meeting of the committee formed for Asaan Karobar be convened soon to begin practical implementation of the proposed reforms.

Meanwhile, Mr Kundi expressed concern over the detection of the sixth polio case in Khyber tribal district and urged parents to ensure vaccination of their children against the crippling virus.

He stressed the need for coordinated and effective measures to eliminate polio virus and called upon the health department, district administrations, polio teams, local elders and parents to fulfil their collective responsibilities.

In a statement issued from his office, the governor urged parents to ensure that all children under five years of age receive polio drops during the ongoing anti-polio campaign and extend full cooperation to vaccination teams.

He said that polio was a preventable disease and every case involving a child was a matter of serious concern while at the same time he emphasised upon strengthening routine immunisation, reaching children missed during vaccination campaigns and ensuring effective monitoring by relevant institutions.

The governor said that the fight against polio virus was not the responsibility of any single institution but a collective national commitment.

“No negligence or lapse can be tolerated in protecting every child from the disease,” he said.
