KARACHI: Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi on Tuesday ordered indiscriminate action against habitual profiteers, warning that they would be arrested and given maximum punishment under the law.

Chairing a meeting of deputy commissioners and assistant commissioners at his office, he directed the officials to visit markets in their respective areas on a daily basis to check prices of bread, flour, eggs and other essential commodities and continue strict legal action against violators.

The meeting reviewed the campaign against profiteering, removal of encroachments, roadside eatery settings and professional beggars and measures for service delivery regarding education, health, development and other civic facilities.
