GILGIT: Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Amjad Hussain has called for positive change in the region, pledging the effective and transparent use of resources that he said had not been properly utilised in the past.
Addressing a public gathering in Chilas on Sunday, the chief minister said around 55,000 children were out of school in Diamer. “If we want to achieve development, we must start preparing for the future today,” he said, adding that equal educational opportunities would be provided to children in remote areas.
The CM during his visit to Diamer held meetings with heads of government departments, met local residents and inspected development projects, hospitals, colleges and power projects. He directed the relevant authorities to ensure the timely completion of ongoing projects.
He said orders had been issued to recruit more than 50 doctors in Diamer under the SPS scheme. The chief minister urged people to set aside their differences and work together for the region’s development.
