MOHMAND: A second-year student of Lakaro Degree College in Mohmand has developed an Arduino Uno-based radar system capable of detecting objects up to four metres away, showcasing the potential of young people to pursue innovation in science and technology.

Jawad Ahmad, a resident of Sangar Kallay in Haleemzai tehsil, developed the system using Arduino Uno and Python.

The system scans a 180-degree field, detects objects within a range of 400 centimetres and displays their presence and movement on a computer screen.

The project is Ahmad’s first practical venture into technology and reflects his interest in robotics, programming and electronic systems.

His initiative demonstrates how students can apply classroom learning to practical projects and explore emerging technologies, even with limited resources.

Locals have appreciated Ahmad’s initiative and expressed hope that continued learning and institutional support will enable him to undertake more advanced projects in the future.
