SMART TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT

SMART TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT: Islamabad is the most beautiful and modern city of Pakistan, but it lacks a smart and efficient traffic management system. Today, countries like China use traffic management systems and surveillance based on artificial intelligence (AI) that can trace any outsider among thousands within seconds. Islamabad urgently needs the same AI-based system, comprising drones and satellite monitoring, with the aim of ensuring smart traffic control. Metal detectors must be installed at parks, hospitals and public places, licensed weapons should be strictly monitored, and entry/exit to the capital should be digitally recorded. If we truly want to keep Islamabad green, clean and, indeed, safe, we must adopt modern AI safety tools. This is the need of the hour.

SHORTAGE OF PROSECUTORS: A few days ago, the prosecutor-general of Punjab visited the Child Protection Court where he was informed that only six cases were pending and three prosecutors were working there. This shows an imbalance in the posting of prosecutors. In some Special Courts where the workload is very low, three or four prosecutors are posted, while many districts, like Attock, Mianwali, Khushab, Bhakkar, Layyah, Rajanpur and Dera Ghazi Khan, are facing a serious shortage of prosecutors. The government should post prosecutors according to the workload, and rotate them across different stations for better and effective prosecution work.

PUBLIC DECORUM: I recently attended a music event where some people were openly consuming alcohol in the presence of children. This sets a damaging example for the next generation. I also witnessed inebriated individuals behaving loudly and even indulging in physical fights. Such a behaviour creates an unpleasant atmosphere and discourages families from attending cultural events. Families and communities deserve events that remain safe, free from the harmful substances.
