LAHORE: A 14-year-old student from Balochistan was found hanged in the washroom of a private college hostel in Multan two days ago.

Police said Abdul Khaliq, a class-X student at Muslim College Biliwala, was found hanging from a cord (azarband) in the hostel washroom on Monday night. He had been residing in the hostel for several years.

Police said the body was shifted to morgue for autopsy and was later handed over to the family.

Victim’s father Rasool Bakhsh Khetran submitted a complaint to Basti Malook police station that the college administration had called him earlier in the day and informed him that his son had clashed with another student in the class and that the college administration had expelled him.

He said he asked the administration to send his son back to Balochistan and also requested to speak to him but he waited for several hours and the administration did not facilitate him to contact his son.

He said the administration contacted him again around 8:30pm and informed him that his son had hanged himself.

He, along with a relative reached Multan and the administration showed him CCTV footage in which his son appeared to write something in a notebook, tore the page, put it in his pocket and proceeded towards the washroom, where he was later found hanging.

He said he along with his relative approached Nishtar Hospital Multan and received the body of his son. He demanded action against the college administration.

Police recorded the statement of the victim’s father. Further investigation is underway.
