SAHIWAL: Four police officials of the Pakpattan Rang Shah police station have been suspended and booked for negligence after an undertrial prisoner escaped from their custody near Chak Shafi on Monday afternoon.

As per details, the Ahmed Yar police had arrested Bilawal, a resident of 231/EB, in two separate cases. Following his physical remand, the court ordered his judicial custody on Oct 5 and the judge ordered to shift him to the Pakpattan Central Prison.

The Rang Shah police, instead of transporting the accused in the designated police van, sent him to the prison on a motorcycle with Constable Muhammad Asif. Near Chak Shafi, Bilawal allegedly managed to free himself and jumped off the moving motorcycle and fled. Search teams were dispatched but they failed to trace the fleeing suspect.

A police inquiry later held Reader Tahir Mahmood responsible as he authorised the transfer on a private motorcycle rather than the official van.

On the SHO’s complaint, a case was registered against four cops, including ASI Habibullah, Reader and Head Constable Tahir Mahmood, Constable Muhammad Asif, and driver Kashif Hussain, and they were arrested.

MURDER: A youth was allegedly stabbed to death by his friends over a minor dispute in Mohalla Muhammadpura in Arifwala city on Monday evening.

According to reports, Ali Raziq, son of a dailywage labourer and resident of Muhammadpura Street No 4, was at a local cigarette shop with his friends when an argument broke out, leading to a scuffle. One of the youths allegedly attacked Ali with a knife, inflicting multiple wounds. Passersby informed his father, who rushed to the spot.

Rescue 1122 confirmed Ali had died instantly.

Arifwala City police said a murder case had been registered against two unidentified accused on the complaint of victim’s father Raziq. His body was shifted to the DHQ Hospital for autopsy.

Police stated they had identified suspects and several youths were currently under interrogation.

ELECTROCUTED: An 18yearold youth was electrocuted in Noor Pur village of Pakpattan tehsil on Monday evening.

Reports said Kashif was engaged in masonry work at an underconstruction building when his head accidentally struck a live electric wire. He received a fatal shock and died instantly.

Rescue 1122 later shifted the body to the Pakpattan DHQ Hospital.
