MANSEHRA: A 10-year-old girl died while her two sisters fell unconscious after allegedly consuming poisonous herbs at an agricultural field in Pataw-i-Asharay area of Torghar on Monday.

“One of the three sisters died instantly while condition of other two is also critical,” an official of Rescue 1122 told journalists.

He said that Mohammad Zahid’s three daughters, aged between eight and 12, were collecting vegetables from a nearby agricultural field when they allegedly consumed some poisonous plants. They were rushed in an ambulance to basic health unit in Judbah, the district headquarters of Torghar, where doctors pronounced one of them dead.

He said that the two unconscious sisters were shifted to district headquarters hospital in Battagram where doctors described their condition critical.

Meanwhile, police arrested alleged killers of Waqas Anwar after a local court cancelled their pre-arrest bail. The suspects, Adnan Fazal and Ahmad Ali, allegedly killed Waqas Anwar last month before fleeing the scene.

ARREST: Police claimed to have arrested a man for trying to sexually assault a 10-year-old girl in Garhi Habibullah.

An official said that after learning that the girl was alone, the man offered her gifts and took her to a nearby graveyard. When he attempted to assault her, she started shouting for help, he added.

He said that a police party raided a house in Darga Khatta and arrested the man and shifted him to police station.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Javed, a resident of Lassan Nawab, has alleged that police have taken his son into custody without showing his arrest in the official record.

He demanded of the district police officer to recover his son. He said that Lassan Nawab police took his son into custody in a theft case on Sept 30 but did not record his arrival in the police register.

He claimed that he approached a local court for his son’s recovery and the judge sent a bailiff to the police station, but police shifted his son to an undisclosed location.

Mr Javed demanded of the district police officer to initiate an inquiry against the police officials allegedly involved in his son’s disappearance and take action against them.
