Dr Jalil Khan assumes charge as KMU VC

PESHAWAR: Prof Abdul Jalil Khan, head of family medicine department, has been appointed 5th vice chancellor of Khyber Medical University and Dr Zohaib Khan as registrar for a period of four years. Both have assumed charge of their new offices.

The Higher Education, Archives and Libraries Department, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has issued the respective official notifications regarding their appointments.

Dr Jalil, an academician, researcher and physician, previously served as professor and director of Family Medicine at KMU, a press release said. With his extensive academic, clinical and administrative experience, he is expected to provide strong leadership for the further advancement of medical and health sciences education, research, innovation and institutional development at the varsity. He has replaced Prof Ziaul Haq, who resigned after joining as executive director, Higher Education Commission, Islamabad.

Dr Zohaib Khan, who served as director of the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC), brings extensive academic, research and administrative experience to the role.

The staff members welcomed his appointment, expressing the hope that it would further strengthen the university’s academic and administrative governance and contribute to the effective implementation of its institutional policies and development initiatives.

Dr Khan has been instrumental in academic excellence achieved by the varsity both nationally and internationally. He has replaced Inamullah Khan Wazir.

The faculty members, officers, employees and students of Khyber Medical University warmly welcomed the appointments and expressed their best wishes to the newly appointed vice chancellor and registrar.

His predecessor, Prof Ziaul Haq, in a statement appreciated the appointments of the VC and the registrar and said the varsity required the people of their calibre.
