13 killed in three road accidents in Shaheed Benazirabad, Naushahro Feroze

NAWABSHAH: Thirteen people were killed in three road accidents in Shaheed Benazirabad and Naushahro Feroze districts on Sunday.

Five members of a family died on the spot when their car collided with a speeding trailer truck on the National Highway near Naushahro Feroze. The dead were Parveen, her son Naushad, her daughter Salma, Rafiq Ahmed and Asif Rajper.

The victims, residents of Ahmed Khan Rajper village near Kandiaro, were travelling to Hyderabad.

Their bodies were trapped in the wreckage and were pulled out after the car was cut open. They were taken to the Civil Hospital in Naushahro Feroze.

In another accident on the National Highway near Daulatpur, six persons of a family, including Rehmatullah Chachar, Ali Jan, a woman and two children, died on the spot when their car collided with an oil tanker.

The family was heading towards Hyderabad from Kashmore.

The bodies were shifted to Rural Health Centre Shahpur Jehanian.

The tanker driver fled after the accident while police impounded his vehicle.

In the third accident, which occurred on Mehran Highway near Daur, two persons, including Uroosa Dahiri and Mariam Dahiri, died on the spot while one person received serious injuries when a trailer truck hit their motorcycle.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has expressed grief over the incidents and offered condolences to the bereaved families.

He directed the district administration to conduct an immediate inquiry into the accidents and submit a detailed report. He also instructed the relevant authorities to enforce traffic regulations strictly on the National Highway to prevent such accidents.

Many people have been killed and hundreds injured in accidents on the National Highway between Moro and Halani, which has been in poor condition.

The causes cited include one-way traffic, slow repair work by the National Highway Authority, the ongoing widening of the Mehran Highway, and the lack of road safety signs and guidance.
