GUJRAT: A youth who was subjected to brutal torture by two suspects, who had allegedly pumped liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) into his body at a decanting outlet in Kot Ishaq locality in Wanike Tarar police precincts in Hafizabad a week ago, died in a hospital in Lahore on Monday.

According to an FIR lodged with the police on Sept 14, complainant Ghulam alleged that his nephew Ali Hassan (18) was intercepted by the suspects – Mudassar and Majid – in a local market.

He said the suspects took the youth to their LPG decanting shop, overpowered him and allegedly pumped the gas into his rectum.

He added that as his nephew started crying in pain, some locals rushed to the shop and shifted him to a hospital. Meanwhile, the two suspects fled the scene.

The complainant said as Hassan’s condition deteriorated, doctors referred him to a hospital in Lahore, where he died on Monday.

The police had registered a case against the nominated suspects under sections 324, 285, 286 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code immediately after the incident and started investigation.

The complainant said that both suspects used to tease Hassan, and he (Ghulam) had confronted them over the issue a few days before the incident.

He said the suspects harboured a grudge and subjected his nephew to brutal torture, by pumping LPG into his body, ultimately resulting in his death.

The police claim that both suspects have been arrested and further investigation is underway.
