SAHIWAL: A young mason was tortured to death by his cousin and his accomplice for demanding his pending wages at 36/14-L village on Monday night.

Shah Kot police have registered a murder case against the suspects on the complaint of the victim’s father, Iqbal.

According to the FIR, Nouman Iqbal, a resident of 36/14-L village, worked as a mason in nearby localities. He had been hired by his cousin, Mudasir, for the construction of his house.

After the construction work was completed, Mudasir could not pay Nauman his entire wages, and Rs13,000 remained outstanding despite repeated demands by the latter.

On Monday night, Nauman went to Mudasir’s house and again demanded the remaining amount. Eyewitnesses say that both exchanged hot words over the issue, but the matter was temporarily settled by locals.

Later, at the house of their uncle, Israr Ahmed, Mudasir and his friend Aman Ullah hurled abuses at Nauman and attacked him with clubs. During the attack, Nauman suffered severe injuries to the head and chest, causing him to fall unconscious.

He was being rushed to the local Rural Health Centre when he succumbed to his injuries. Shah Kot SHO confirmed that police have arrested Mudasir, while raids are underway to apprehend his friend.
