QUETTA: Seventeen additional electric buses will soon be added to the Quetta Green Bus Service to expand public transport facilities to areas of the provincial capital that currently lack adequate connectivity.

The announcement was made during a meeting chaired by Commissioner of Quetta Division Zeeshan Lashari to review the provision and improvement of facilities under the Green Bus Service.

The operating agency briefed the participants on the service’s routes, bus stops, operational arrangements and facilities available to commuters.

Officials said 25 Green Buses are currently operating in Quetta, including four buses reserved exclusively for women.

Female staff have also been deployed on the women-only buses to provide female passengers with safer and more convenient travel.

The service currently operates on four routes from 7am to 9pm, with several bus stops established along the routes. Around 40 stops have been established on the Kuchlak route, while approximately 50 stops connect the Metropolitan area with Sariab Road.

The meeting was also informed that the Green Bus Service has been extended to Turbat, where four buses are currently operating.
