PESHAWAR: Eid Miladun Nabi will be celebrated today (Wednesday) in Peshawar and other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with religious fervour.
In Peshawar, several events will be held while processions will also be taken out to express love, devotion and respect for the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him).
Officials said that strict security measures would be in place to avert any untoward incident on this occasion, especially on the routes of processions.
The main procession, which has now been an important annual event, will be held under the banner of Idara Tableeghul Islam.
It will start after Isha (night) prayers from Milad Chowk in the city and, after passing through its traditional routes, will culminate at Qissa Khwani Bazaar where the main Mehfil-i-Milad will be held.
On this occasion, religious scholars and leaders will deliver speeches and recite Naats to pay homage to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Several small processions will also be taken out from Sikandar Pura, Qissa Khwani, Saddar, Kohati, Gulbahar and other areas to mark the birth of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
Meanwhile, government offices, streets and mosques have been illuminated in the provincial capital. Most of the bazaars are offering festive looks.
