LAHORE: Several buildings, roads, greenbelts and intersections in Lahore, its adjoining districts and other parts of the province have been illuminated to mark Eid Miladun Nabi.
In Lahore, a number of buildings, premises and roads have been illuminated with decorative light installations and religious motifs by various civic agencies, including the Horticulture Agency Lahore (formerly the Parks and Horticulture Authority) under aegis of the Punjab Horticulture Authority (PHA) and Metropolitan Corporation Lahore (MCL).
“Lahore is looking beautiful after several buildings and roads have been illuminated to mark the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH),” commented a citizen while talking to Dawn on Tuesday.
The horticulture agencies in 21 districts, under the aegis of the PHA, had put up illuminated signage and ornamental displays, marking the occasion with public greenery and green spaces dressed for the holy day. In Lahore, the authority has installed billboards themed around the occasion and have been running digital campaigns across major thoroughfares, including The Mall and Gulberg.
Similarly, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, Bahawalpur, Khushab, and Rahim Yar Khan also featured prominent lighting arrangements, with parks and public spaces in each city decorated with religious calligraphy, illuminated domes, and floral motifs.
According to PHA Director General Ahmad Usman Javaid, the district agencies also decorated their offices with lights and buntings, giving them a distinct green appearance in honour of the sacred occasion.
“Eid Milad-un-Nabi celebrations are a great honour and a blessing for all of us,” he said. Preparations began this week in advance, with horticulture staff working overnight to complete installations ahead of the holy night, he added.
Meanwhile, in a meeting on Tuesday, he directed PHA’s newly-established district agencies to devise area-specific revenue generation plans aimed at strengthening financial sustainability and reducing reliance on government funding.
The meeting reviewed the agencies’ operational performance, administrative arrangements, and progress on organisational development, with officials stressing the need to build financially self-sustaining institutions.
