CMCH finance director rehired after lapse of five weeks

LARKANA: Chandka Medical College Hospital’s management board on Thursday reappointed Finance Director Kazim Ali Bhutto for a second three-year term.

The position had been lying vacant since July 7, when Mr Bhutto completed his first term in the office.

The routine functions at the hospital and all its five affiliated health facilities, as well as medical labs, had been badly affected as no money transactions were possible in the absence of a finance director, who is the only official with the drawing and disbursement powers.

It took the hospital’s management board no fewer than five weeks to decide whether a new finance director should be selected or Mr Bhutto be reappointed.

Serious lapses occurred in administrative matters during the five-week period.

On the board’s recommendation, Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah gave his approval for Mr Bhutto’s reappointment, according to sources.

They said that a notification to this effect had been issued by the Services, General Administration & Coordination Department.
