DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The police arrested a seminary teacher after a video showing him allegedly torturing a minor student went viral on social media.

The suspect was identified as Humayun, a resident of Paniala. A case was registered against him. The police said complaints of a similar nature had been received against the teacher in the past as well.

Meanwhile, the district administration on Wednesday sealed four shops for selling fertiliser despite the ban on its sale.

The action was taken against fertiliser dealers over violations of Section 144, overcharging and non-compliance with official pricing regulations.

According to the administration, the inspections were conducted in different areas. Four fertiliser shops were sealed, one dealer was fined Rs10,000 for overcharging, while three dealers were sent to jail for violating legal requirements.

Also, the district administration removed six illegally installed billboards in Dera city’s Sheikh Yousaf Chowk during a crackdown. The action was carried out after complaints from residents.

The administration officials, accompanied by relevant TMA staff, found that several billboards had been installed without permission.

The six illegal billboards were dismantled.

The administration formed a team to conduct daily operations against unauthorised billboards and ordered the registration of FIRs against those responsible for violating the law.
