QUETTA: Six women, including a mother and her daughter, were killed and three people injured in separate incidents in different areas of Balochistan on Saturday, while the body of an unidentified woman was found in the Kalat area.

Officials said the first firing incident took place in the Segi area of Qila Abdullah district, where unidentified armed men opened fire on a car, killing two women and injuring a man, his wife and their daughter.

Sources said the victims belonged to Karachi and were visiting relatives in the area. The family was returning to Karachi when armed men signalled the driver to stop. After the driver ignored the signal, the attackers opened fire on the vehicle.

“As a result of the firing, two young women were killed, while a man, his wife and another daughter were injured,” officials said, adding that the bodies and injured were shifted to District Hospital Abdul Rehmanzai.

Police were investigating the incident, but no arrests had been reported so far.

Woman, daughter shot dead

In another firing incident, a woman and her teenage daughter were shot dead by unidentified armed men in Noshki on Saturday.

Police said armed men barged into a house in Killi Mengal area of Noshki late on Friday night and opened indiscriminate fire, killing 50-year-old Bibi Hanifa, wife of Ali Ahmed, and her 17-year-old daughter, Hafsa.

Police rushed to the scene after receiving information about the incident and shifted the bodies to Mir Gul Khan Naseer Teaching Hospital, Noshki, for medico-legal formalities and post-mortem examination.

After completion of the necessary legal procedures, the bodies were handed over to the victims’ family members later that night. The motive behind the killings was not known. Police registered a case and launched an investigation.

“We are investigating the incident from different angles to determine the motive behind the double murder and identify and arrest those responsible,” a senior police officer said.

Two women killed

There were also reports of the killing of two more women by unidentified armed men in the Nasirabad area. However, no further details were available.

Meanwhile, the body of an unidentified woman was found in the Rej area of Kalat.

Police said local residents informed them about the presence of a woman’s body near the Quetta-Karachi National Highway.

Police rushed to the site, took the body into custody and shifted it to District Hospital Kalat for identification. However, no one had identified the deceased woman so far.
