SI found murdered in rented room in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI: A police sub-inspector associated with Special Branch VIP Security wing was found murdered in his rented room in Dhoke Hassu on Wednesday night.

The body of sub-inspector Ikramullah Niazi, 57, was recovered from his rented room dipped in the pool of blood. Blood was also found scattered inside his room when the police reached the scene. He had been residing in the rented room for the last four years.

Police suspect the sub-inspector might be murdered with a sharp instrument. Later, the body was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital for postmortem.

The police have started investigating the incident from various aspects, while investigations are ongoing into the reasons for the murder and the suspects. The real facts of the incident are expected to come to light after the postmortem report and further investigation.

The funeral prayer of the sub-inspector was offered at the Police Lines Headquarters on Thursday, CPO, SP Headquarters, SP Security and other senior officers and officials participated in large numbers, police spokesman said.

The CPO met the son and family of the deceased Sub-Inspector and offered condolences.

An FIR has been registered in the Ratta Amral police station for the murder of Sub-Inspector.

The body of the deceased has been sent to his native city Mianwali.
