BANNU: Security forces killed two terrorists during an intelligence-based operation in the Janikhel area here on Tuesday, sources said.

According to them, the operation was conducted in Shahid Khan village, in which two unidentified terrorists were killed in an exchange of fire.

The sources said bodies of terrorists were recovered by a local security unit.

Meanwhile, an explosive device planted by terrorists on the roadside went off in the Khanikhel area of Miryan tehsil, leaving a large crater in the road.

No loss of life was reported in the incident, according to preliminary information.

Sources said security forces were conducting an ongoing operation against terrorists in Khanikhel and adjoining areas, while the road is also used for the movement of security personnel.

Initial indications suggest that the explosive device may have been planted along the road to target security forces.

Following the blast, security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search and clearance operation.

Traffic on the affected road was also temporarily disrupted.
