TOBA TEK SINGH: Faisalabad’s Saddar police arrested on Monday a woman and her friend for poisoning her husband to death and also administering poison to her three minor daughters who were saved by doctors.

Complainant Muhammad Tahir alleged in his FIR that on July 23, his brother Azhar Ali died mysteriously at his house in Sitara Park locality on Jaranwala Road in Faisalabad while his three nieces lost consciousness.

He added that they came to know later that Azhar’s wife Asma Bibi had relations with one Babar Ali of Lahore and they both administered poison to Azhar and three daughters as a part of the plan to contract marriage.

The FIR added that Azhar died, however, his daughters were saved at the DHQ Hospital, Faisalabad, by the doctors.

The police arrested Asma and Babar.

In another case, Chak Jhumra police arrested a water supply tubewell operator of Chak 104-JB Muhammad Rizwan for strangling his fellow tubewell operator, Ehtasham Ashraf.

Police said the deceased had complained to the officials about the absence of the suspect from duty and due to that grudge, the suspect strangled the victim with a cloth.

ACCIDENTS: A man died after a train hit him near Khanewal Railway Station.

Rescue 1122 said Jaffar Ali (43) of Mohsinwal was crossing the track when the train hit him. He received multiple injuries and died at the DHQ Hospital Khanewal.

In Faisalabad, near Meeranwala Bangla on Aminpur Bypass Road, a mini-truck laden with wheat bags hit a motorcycle-rickshaw. As a result, wheat bags fell on the rickshaw and buried its driver under them. When rescuers removed bags, the rider of the three-wheeler had already died. He was identified as Abdul Ghafoor (32).

PESTICIDE: A pesticide wing team of the agriculture department, led by Deputy Director Zulfiqar Ali Ghouri, raided a warehouse at Chak 67-JB near Sadhar Adda in Faisalabad and recovered more than 37,000kg of fake pesticides.

The warehouse owner, Muhammad Bilal, has been booked by Faisalabad’s Airport police and a worker present in the warehouse has been arrested.
