LAHORE: Punjab Minister for School and Higher Education Rana Sikandar Hayat simultaneously announced the Matriculation (SSC) examination results of all boards of intermediate and secondary education (BISEs) across the province.
Addressing the online result announcement ceremony, the minister said transparent examination results had enabled the government to uphold the highest standards of credibility. He directed all boards to increase the cash awards for position-holders from Rs20,000 to Rs100,000 per student to further encourage academic excellence. He also distributed laptops, in addition to the enhanced cash awards, among the position holders.
Speaking at the result announcement and prize distribution ceremony, the minister said new technology had been introduced in the result preparation this year and students would now be able to obtain their result cards online instead of receiving hard copies. Students of private schools would be able to download verified result cards through their institutions’ portals, eliminating the need for any further verification.
He further announced that an AI-powered chatbot had also been introduced to facilitate students by providing them with instant access to the required information, removing the need to visit board offices for routine queries.

Mr Hayat said the government was moving towards the complete digitisation of examination boards. To further improve the quality and transparency of paper assessment, full screen marking would be introduced from next year. He added that the centralised paper-checking system was also being further strengthened. From next year, students would be able to apply for the rechecking of their examination papers through a QR code-based system, making the process more transparent and convenient.
“Nine-five percent of the cheating mafia had been eliminated. This year, there were no complaints that examination centres had been sold or that money was taken for solving question papers.”
In Lahore, a total of 282,308 candidates appeared in the SSC annual examinations, of whom 182,186 passed, taking the overall pass percentage to 64.53pc. Girls significantly outperformed boys, with 111,194 of the 154,372 girls passing the examination for a success rate of 72.03pc while 70,992 of the 127,936 boys cleared the exams, recording a pass percentage of 55.49pc. Girls surpassed boys by 16.54 percentage points in the overall results.
In Multan, 96,638 out of 133,019 candidates cleared the examination and an overall pass percentage remained 72.65. The Science Group recorded a 73.84pc pass rate with 88,307 candidates passing out of 119,590 who appeared in the examination. The Humanities Group posted a 61.57pc success rate as 8,163 out of 13,258 candidates qualified.
Female students once again outperformed their male counterparts as they achieved a 78.70pc pass rate, while the success ratio among boys stood at 66.41pc. Special (Deaf) candidates demonstrated outstanding performance, registering a 98.25pc pass rate, with 168 out of 171 candidates declared successful.
