DAMBULLA: Ayesha Zafar’s responsible batting and a brace of wickets by Momina Riasat led Pakistan women to a consolation four-wicket win over their Sri Lankan counterparts in the third T20 International here at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium on Tuesday.

The victory proved a source of some relief for the tourists who had already lost the three-match series by suffering defeats in the first two matches.

Chasing 114, Pakistan achieved the target for the loss of six wickets with 10 balls to spare. Right-handed middle-order batter Ayesha top-scored with a 31-ball 39 laced with six fours.

Ayesha’s team-mate and opener Shawaal Zulfiqar scored a 12-ball 21, which included three fours and a six.

For the hosts, captain Chamari Athapaththu and Kavisha Dilhari took two wickets each.

Earlier after being put into bat, Sri Lanka posted a modest 113-6 in the allotted 20 overs as left-handed Athapaththu (34) top-scored for the hosts, smashing five fours in her knock.

For Pakistan, 23-year-old Momina returned figures of two for 18 from four overs.

Prior to the T20 series, Pakistan faced Sri Lanka in a three-match ODI series that was won by the hosts 2-1.
