LAHORE: The Punjab home department says law enforcement personnel have already been deployed at all venues to provide foolproof security to the gatherings being held on Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions, as well as the Urs of Hazrat Ali bin Usman Hajveri (RH).
A home department spokesman says some 869 majalis and 494 processions will be held across Punjab during Chehlum.
On the recommendation of the Punjab Police, the home departmenthas requested the interior ministry to provide the services of the Pakistan Army and Rangers troops to assist the police and strengthen security.
The department has requisitioned 15 companies of the Pakistan Army and 28 companies of the Pakistan Rangers for deployment in 18 districts in the province on the Chehlum.
The troops will be deployed in Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Sargodha, Khushab, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Faisalabad, Jhang, Pakpattan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Layyah, Bahawalpur, and Rahim Yar Khan.
The deployment aims to ensure enhanced security at sensitive locations, routes of processions, and majalis venues.
The home department authorities say all necessary measures are in place to maintain law and order during the religious gatherings.
