SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: A jirga has resolved a blood feud between two families belonging to the Kakakhel clan of the Ahmadzai Wazir tribe in Lower South Waziristan.

It was learnt that the family of Bismillah Jan and Musa had a dispute that lingered on for 27 years. A local jirga made efforts for reconciliation and resolved the dispute.

On Friday, after extensive negotiations, an agreement was reached by tribal elders, bringing an end to nearly three decades of hostility that had resulted in human and financial losses to the two families.

Following the announcement of the jirga decision, members of both families embraced each other and pledged to live in peace.

The reconciliation was made possible through the efforts of local tribal elders Sajid Kakakhel, Bismillah Jan and Latif.

The elders worked tirelessly and held repeated consultations with both the parties for quite some time. Their persistent efforts, impartiality and commitment ultimately convinced the rival families to settle their differences peacefully.

To ensure the durability of the agreement, the jirga documented the settlement in writing, with both parties formally accepted its terms and expressed full confidence in the decision.

Addressing the gathering, elders of the Ahmadzai Wazir tribe said that the reconciliation was conducted strictly in accordance with the long-established customs, traditions and tribal values of the Ahmadzai and Utmanzai Wazir tribes.

Both families expressed gratitude to the mediators and tribal elders for bringing the dispute to an end.

Tribal elders Noor Nawaz, president of South Waziristan Lower Chamber of Commerce, Saif-ur-Rehman Wazir, local political leader Taj Muhammad Wazir, Gulzada, Sardar Hassan, Kamal, Jalal; Shah Alam; Essa Khan and several others were present.
