TAXILA: A Pakistan Army soldier, Lance Naik Ziaur Rehman, who embraced martyrdom in a terrorist attack during an operational deployment in Tank district, was laid to rest with full military honour in Wah Cantt on Saturday amid scenes of grief and solemnity.
The funeral prayers were offered in Shehzad Nagar, Wah Cantt, where a large number of military officials, relatives, local residents and community members gathered to pay their last respects to the fallen soldier.
Lance Naik Zia-ur-Rehman was serving with the 159 Light Air Defence Regiment and was also a Hafiz-i-Quran. The martyr is survived by his widow, three young daughters, a son and other family members.
Tributes poured in from residents and local dignitaries, who described his supreme sacrifice as a symbol of courage, patriotism and unwavering commitment to the defence of the country.
Special prayers were offered for the elevation of his ranks and for strength and patience for the bereaved family.
