ISLAMABAD: Under the prime minister’s initiative to equip young people with foreign-language proficiency, global exposure, and skills aligned with international educational and employment opportunities, a delegation of 10 students and two faculty members from Islamabad Model College for Boys (IMCB) I-8/3, on Saturday departed for Moscow, Russian Federation, on a two-week official visit.
The foreign language courses were introduced in public colleges under the overarching umbrella of the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training through a strategic tripartite agreement among the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE), the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC), and the National University of Modern Languages (NUML).
As part of the initiative, an intensive Russian Language Course was conducted at IMCB I-8/3 from September 2025 to February 2026. Initially, around 40 students enrolled in the program, out of which 16 successfully passed the rigorous final assessment.
The ministry, FDE, and college administration have extended special commendation and appreciation to Ms. Yevgeniya Buch, who diligently and passionately conducted the Russian language classes at IMCB I-8/3.
Her teaching efforts and commitment were instrumental in enabling the students to master the foundational language skills required for the foreign exposure opportunity.
The idea for the educational visit originated during a high-level Russian delegation’s visit to IMCB I-8/3 on November 26, 2025, where they interacted with the Russian language students.
Impressed by their performance, the head of the delegation announced an official tour of Russia for students successfully completing the course.
Following the completion of the program, the Embassy of the Russian Federation extended an offer to arrange the trip. Ten students met the specific age criterion (under 18 years) set by the Russian authorities, alongside two teachers, forming the final 12-member visiting delegation.
At a send-off ceremony, Principal Shahid Mahmood Abbasi bade farewell to the group and instructed the students to conduct themselves as true ambassadors of Pakistan while exploring Russia’s rich culture and educational institutions.
Special thanks were extended to the Government of the Russian Federation and Mr. Gleb Shubin, Cultural Attaché at the Russian Embassy in Islamabad, for his continuous support, coordination, and effort in making the visit a reality.
