KARACHI: A man and his young son were killed when a rashly driven trailer hit their motorcycle in Baldia Town on Monday.

A traffic police official said the incident occurred near the Edhi graveyard, on the road leading towards Musharraf Colony.

The official said the heavy vehicle, being driven recklessly by an unknown driver, struck a motorcycle bearing registration number KJY-3668 carrying two riders who were not wearing helmets.

As a result of the collision, both riders fell from the motorcycle and sustained critical injuries. They were transported to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi, where they died during treatment.

The deceased were identified as Abdul Majeed, 60, and his son, Abdul Jabbar, 30.

The motorcycle was taken into police custody. The trailer driver fled the scene along with the heavy vehicle.

Both victims were masons by profession and were on their way to work. Relatives said Abdul Jabbar was due to get married next month.

Meanwhile, a man was killed in Azam Basti early on Monday morning.

The Mehmoodabad police said Aman Durrani, 38, was stabbed to death following a personal dispute in Street 5.

The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.
