Quinta Brunson to play Betty Boop

Quinta Brunson is developing and starring in a new film about Betty Boop and her creator, Max Fleischer.

The movie will explore the rise of Betty Boop and the relationship between the famous cartoon icon and the artist behind her, focusing on the pressures of creating one of animation’s earliest global stars.

The project is being made with Fleischer Studios and Max Fleischer’s grandson, Mark Fleischer. Originally introduced in the 1930s, Betty Boop became one of animation’s first major pop culture icons.

KPop Demon Hunters’ immersive experience

Netflix is launching a KPop Demon Hunters immersive experience at its Netflix House locations to celebrate the one-year anniversary of its premiere on June 20.

Netflix House has locations in Philadelphia and Dallas, both featuring Wednesday, Stranger Things and Squid Game experiences. Toys, dolls, apparel and more merchandise were launched on Monday. Derpie Tiger and Susie Bird LEGO sets are available for pre-order now. The Netflix Playground app launches six Kpop Demon Hunters minigames Saturday.

Featuring the speaking voices of Arden Cho, May Hong and Ji-young Yoo and singing voices of EJAE, Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami, KPop Demon Hunters features the girl group Huntr/x battling demons. One is keeping a secret that she is part demon herself.

The film won Oscars for Best Animated Film and the song “Golden.” Netflix reports 600 million views of the film keeping it in the Global Top 10 for 52 weeks.

Stranger Things spin-off details

Stranger Things creators Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer have confirmed the upcoming live-action spin-off will feature a completely new cast and story.

The series will not include Eleven, Mike, Dustin or the original Hawkins group. The Duffers said they want the spin-off to explore something fresh rather than repeat the same characters and setting.

The new project has reportedly been in development for around seven years and may take place in a different era or location, while keeping the same tone as the original show.

The spin-off is still in early development.
