Woman killed as mortar shells hit Bannu house

BANNU: A woman was killed and a minor girl injured after two mortar shells, fired from an unknown location, struck a house in the Norar area of Miryan tehsil in Bannu district.

According to police sources, the mortar shells caused severe damage to the structure.

A woman, the wife of Rasheedullah, who was inside the house at the time of the incident, died on the spot, while the injured girl was immediately shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital in Bannu.

Hospital officials said that her condition was stable.

Police began collecting evidence to determine the origin of the mortar fire and the nature of the projectiles.

A case has been registered, and an investigation has been initiated.
