QUETTA: The owner of a known restaurant in Quetta was killed in a shooting on Saturday, police said.

Mohammad Hashim Noorzai, the owner of Kabul Jan Restaurant, was travelling from Kuchlak to Quetta when assailants opened fire on his vehicle at Kuchlak Bypass before fleeing the scene, police said.

His body was shifted to a hospital, where doctors confirmed that he had sustained three bullet wounds — one to the head and two to the arms. The head injury proved fatal.

After completing legal formalities, police handed over the body to the heirs, registered a case and launched an investigation.

Following the killing, the victim’s family and local residents staged a protest by placing the body at Buleli Customs and blocking the National Highway.
