Couple, three children killed in Gambat accident

SUKKUR: A couple and their three children were killed when the motorcycle they were riding was hit by a speeding SUV near Gambat, in Khairpur district, on Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Sikandar Jogi, his wife Mrs Rozina, and their children, Abdul Qadeer, Fida Hussain and Dua Batool. Their fourth child,

Waseem, sustained critical injuries in the accident.

According to the Gambat police, the victims were rushed to the Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) Hospital, where doctors pronounced the couple and their three children dead on arrival. They admitted Waseem for treatment, the police added.

They said that the family had left Karachi for their native village, Papri, when the accident took place near Gambat along the National Highway.

They said that the SUV had been impounded and its driver arrested. They believed that overspeeding by the SUV driver resulted in the accident.
