UVAS researchers develop teabags, win contest

LAHORE: Students showcased their innovative business ideas at the UVAS’s 4th Business Plan Competition Drive phase-2 final round arranged by the Business Incubation Centre (BIC) of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore.

Twelve finalist teams pitched their innovative business ideas before a panel of judges consisting of Dr Hammad Ahmed Hashmi, GM SNAM Pharma and UVAS faculty members.

GC University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Omer Chaudhry was chief guest.

UVAS VC Prof Dr Masood Rabbani distributed prizes among the winning teams. Dean Veterinary Science Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf and BIC Director Prof Dr Mian Abdul Hafeez were also present.

Team Mood Tea from UVAS City Campus won the first position with a cash prize of Rs50,000. The team developed innovative teabags in three distinct varieties, each formulated with scientifically approved ingredients to support different human moods and well-being.

The second prize of Rs40,000 was awarded to Team Floral Vibes from City Campus for presenting a sustainable business idea that converts dried leaves into decorative scenery products.

Team Organic Converter from City Campus and Team Fin Fantasy from Ravi Campus Pattoki, shared the third position with a prize of Rs30,000. One team developing an eco-friendly catalytic converter using locally available materials for motorcycles and rickshaws, aiming to reduce carbon emissions while the other team proposed a 3D model of a fish resort using the university’s fish hatchery facilities for recreation, tourism and promotion of fish consumption.
