ISLAMABAD: Another suspect was shot and injured during an encounter with police in Tarnol, police said.

The police said a five-member police team armed with weapons including SMGs, were present in the area of the police station. In the meantime the Safe City Islamabad received a complaint regarding robbery in which three persons looted a motorcycle, cash and mobile from a man and escaped.

In response the police team set up a picket at Zila Tax, G.T Road near Tarnol Railway crossing. At around 3:15am three persons riding on a motorcycle appeared from Sangjani side and were moving towards the railway crossing.

On suspicion the police team made an attempt to intercept them, but the riders started indiscriminate firing at the police personnel. The police team took cover behind the official vehicle and resorted to firing in the air . As a result the riders got panic and tried to flee towards Madina Town. However, one of them was found lying injuredon road with his motorcycle.

The other two suspects managed to escape.
