TOBA TEK SINGH: The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has provided two anti-smog guns for Faisalabad with the aim to keep the environment safe from the harmful effects of smog.

EPA Director General Imran Hamid Sheikh inaugurated the anti-smog guns by pressing a button at the Faisalabad DC Complex on Sunday. An MoU was also signed between the University of Faisalabad and the EPA to promote research for the prevention of smog, in which the EPA deputy director briefed the participants on preventive and protective measures.

The EPA DG said that after a successful experiment in Lahore last year, two anti-smog guns had been provided to Faisalabad for the upcoming smog season, thanks to which smog would be significantly reduced by spraying water at hotspots and eliminating dust and dirt. He said that being an industrial city, Faisalabad had been facing challenges, however, it was imperative to control the harmful effects of smog by implementing coordinated measures.

ADCG Anwar Ali, Finance and Planning ADC Mudassar Mumtaz, EPA Deputy Director Muhammad Usman Azhar, FCCI President Farooq Yousuf Sheikh and industrialists Bao Akram and Waheed Khaliq Ramey were also present.

VISIT: Investment Denmark International Development Agency (Denida) officials Mr Jacob and Ms Stein visited the site of the eastern waste water treatment plant project at Faisalabad on Sunday and met with the contractor, consultant and Wasa officers and reviewed the progress of the project.

While checking the construction works of the project, they expressed satisfaction with the quality of the project and appreciated the steps taken by the government and Wasa for resuming construction work on the project. They also visited the water treatment plant project in Makkuana. Project Director Awais Jamal briefed them about the ongoing work.

TRAIN: The railway police reunited two children who had accidentally boarded the wrong train at the Chak Jhumra railway station on Sunday.

A railway police official said that a mother along with her two children wanted to board a train for Wazirabad, but siblings Zohra (8) and Ahmad (5) boarded a Faisalabad-bound train. Their mother immediately informed the railway police and the information was conveyed to ASI Khawar Hussain in Faisalabad.

The official promptly checked 112/DN Badar Express at the Faisalabad Railway Station and located both children. He brought them out of the train and their mother was informed. Subsequently, the children’s cousin, Tayyab Mansab, arrived at the station and he took them away.
