KARACHI: Shah Latif awards

KARACHI, July 8: The Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai and Mysticism Award Committee of the Pakistan Academy of Letters has announced Shah Latif Awards for 2004 and 2005 for two Sindhi-language books.

The books selected for the award are Dr Umm-i-Kalsoom Shah's “Shah Latif Jee Shairee Main Istaiare Ain Tashbeeh Nigaree Jo Tahqeeqi Jaizo” for 2004 and Mohammad Hussain Kahsif's ''Latifi Fikr Ain Suran Jee Sanjah'' for 2005.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the committee held here on Saturday with Mazharul Haq Siddiqui, vice-chancellor, Sindh University, in the chair.

Detailed discussion was held on books, published in 2004 and 2005 and received by the academy for the award of cash prize of Rs25,000 and unanimously selected the said books for the Shah Latif Award..—PPI
